PPL licence renewal: SE / ME / NIGHT/ IMC |
Single Engine |
Your licence will be valid for 5 years, but your flying privileges need to be revalidated every
two years. This is done in either one of two ways:
- The simplest is to have a Proficiency Check with one of our many examiners within the last three months of your experience. This
is a flight test of your general handling skills and will normally last about one hour.
- Otherwise revalidating is done with flying experience. You will require in the last 12 months
of your validity period, 12 hours of flying. These 12 hours will need to be a minimum of
6 hours as pilot in command, there will need to be logbook evidence of 12 take-offs and 12 landings
and there must also be a signed off dual flight with an instructor of at least one hour.
|
Multi Engine |
Your class rating will be valid for 12 months renewable by flying Proficiency Check with one
of our many examiners within the last three months of your experience. The Proficiency Check will involve
general handling skills, steep turns, stalling, before a return to the
airfield for circuits, simulated engine failure after take-off practice, followed by asymmetric circuits with a go around from commital height and a further asymmetric circuit to land.
|
IMC |
Your IMC rating is valid for 25 months and is revalidated by test with an
authorised examiner. The test will involve some route work, with NDB and/or VOR tracking,
general handling skills full and partial panel. Then it will be back to the Southend Beacon
for an NDB procedure and an ILS approach. Note that if one type of approach has been completed
prior to test, that has been deemed successful by an appropriately rating instructor, then only
the other type of approach need be demonstrated.
